Is it always clear in the Bible that something is symbolic or figurative?

Of course not! If it were always clear, people would realize that 7 days is actually in God's terms and actually meant how he would see 7 days, as more like 70 billion years to a human. So if the Bible made any sense at all, there would be no creationism.
